Make the perfect sweet and tart Lemon Drop Martini at home. This recipe balances smooth vodka with fresh lemon and triple sec, finished with a classic sugared rim.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.75 oz Triple Sec
  • 0.75 oz Simple Syrup
  • Coarse Sugar, for rim
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass: Rub the rim of a chilled martini glass with a lemon wedge. Roll the rim in coarse sugar to create a sugared rim. Set the glass aside.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add the vodka, fresh lemon juice, triple sec, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake well: Seal the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is very cold, about 15 to 20 seconds. This chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
  4. Strain: Double strain the mixture into the prepared, sugar-rimmed martini glass.
  5. Garnish: Garnish with a fresh lemon twist. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, make your own simple syrup by combining equal parts sugar and hot water until dissolved, then cool completely.
  • If you prefer a Lemon Drop Shot, use 1.5 oz Vodka, 0.75 oz Triple Sec, and 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice, shaking and straining into a shot glass without a sugared rim.
  • To make a Cranberry Lemon Drop, add 0.5 oz of unsweetened cranberry juice to the shaker before mixing.
