Make this incredibly moist and flaky baked salmon using a simple honey garlic butter glaze. This recipe is perfect for a quick, healthy weeknight dinner and requires minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry using paper towels. This step helps the glaze adhere and promotes better texture.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, oregano, pepper, and salt to create the glaze.
  4. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush about half of the honey garlic butter glaze evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. For thicker fillets, you may need up to 18 minutes.
  7. Remove the salmon from the oven. Drizzle the remaining glaze over the hot fish and immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top.
  8. Serve your tender fish immediately with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • For a slightly crispy baked salmon topping, you can sprinkle a teaspoon of panko breadcrumbs mixed with a little melted butter over the glaze during the last 3 minutes of baking.
  • To ensure moist baked salmon, avoid overcooking. Use an instant-read thermometer; the internal temperature should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • This recipe works well for meal prep salmon ideas; store cooled leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
