Make this quick, zesty, and creamy homemade horseradish sauce. It is the perfect tangy condiment for prime rib, roast beef, or steak, and works well as a sandwich spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish, drained
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and mayonnaise. Mix until smooth.
  2. Stir in the drained prepared horseradish, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Whisk the ingredients together until fully incorporated and creamy.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving with roast beef or steak.

Notes

  • Drain the excess liquid from the prepared horseradish for a thicker sauce consistency.
  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of prepared white horseradish root instead of just the prepared sauce.
  • You can make this sauce up to four days ahead; store it covered in the refrigerator.
