Make this foolproof Cherry Dump Cake using only three ingredients: cherry pie filling, dry cake mix, and butter. This recipe requires no mixing and bakes into a warm, gooey dessert perfect for last-minute needs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the layer of cherry pie filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Remove the dump cake from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving warm, often with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For an extra rich topping, use a butter cake mix instead of yellow cake mix.
  • Serve this warm cherry dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the best experience.
  • If you want a slight variation, try using a pineapple cherry dump cake combination by adding one can of drained crushed pineapple under the cake mix layer.
