Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This step builds texture.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix the dough.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
  7. Scoop the dough into balls, about 3 tablespoons each, for thick cookies. Place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
