Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Mix them together by hand or with a spoon until the mixture is smooth and creamy. You do not need an electric mixer for this step.
  3. Gradually add the flour to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix the dough.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, or press the dough into a flat sheet and cut into desired shapes. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  6. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a slightly different texture, you can chill the dough for 15 minutes before shaping.
  • These cookies are delicate when warm; handle them gently until they cool fully.
  • Dust cooled cookies with extra powdered sugar for presentation if desired.
